Mary grew up in Birkenhead and spent 40 years working in primary schools in Cheshire. She enjoyed four years as an undergrad studying art and contemporary craft at West Dean College in Sussex, the home of Surrealism. She returned to Liverpool for a contrasting environment and the challenge of an MAFA.
