Visual Language
‘Visual Language’ is a project based around offering a new perspective into the design of children’s foreign language learning resources. Using unique individual product concepts, a set of resources have been created which are rooted in strong visual elements to foster collaboration and interaction among students.
Aimed at children in Key Stage 2 (7-11 years old), the resources encourage learning through physical interactions and play. The pack includes:
• ¡Roba La Ropa! – A Spanish learning game which encourages children to learn the names of clothing items, using physical game pieces and quick-paced gameplay.
• Amalfi Lemon Information & Activity Booklet – An information leaflet in Italian about the traditions of Amalfi Lemon farming, with additional activities related to the topic.
• Memory Card Game – A ‘pairs’ card game in French for learning varied vocabulary. Cards are offered in themed packs alongside other resources and can be used interchangeably.
Each resource within this pack is offered in a different language as a sample, to demonstrate how products can be adapted to the language being taught. Plans for future progression include the creation of digital resources and experimentation with technologies such as Augmented Reality.
