Liverpool Toile

A modern interpretation of 18th century Toile De Jouy, ‘Liverpool Toile’ replaces usual rural pastoral scenes with images of urban life associated with Liverpool’s identity. This pattern features iconic Liverpool landmarks such as the Royal Liver Building, Radio City Tower, Mersey Ferries, as well as depictions of Liverpool youth and class representations in an attempt to create a visual narrative of the city based on the artist's experiences. Using a monochromatic blue palette and a single repeat pattern style, the pattern was drawn, and hand-screen printed onto off-white cotton in accordance with traditional Toile designs.
