Sleepwalk

Oliver Williams and Rosie Raby

LOGLINE
Struggling to sleep, ARTHUR’s life takes a sudden turn for the better after a chance meeting with LOUISE, a fellow student. When his battles with insomnia begin to interfere with their blossoming romance, he risks plunging deeper into melancholy and sleeplessness.

SYNOPSIS
ARTHUR (20), an insomniac student, has his cycle of sleepless nightness and monotonous days disrupted when LOUISE (20), another student, introduces herself at a café. They bond over literature, resulting in Louise lending Arthur a book. Making the most of his sleeplessness, Arthur reads the book in a single night, and finds a note hidden in the final pages containing Louise’s number and the offer of meeting up to discuss it. They meet at a park, strolling around while continuing their literate conversation while getting to know each other. Louise lends Arthur a second book, with the same premise of meeting up again. After more sleepless nights spent reading, they arrange to meet. As Louise has to rush home due to her mother’s worsening health, the pair only have a limited window to meet. Arthur’s insomnia catches up to him and he oversleeps, waking up as her train is departing. They spend weeks apart while Arthur’s insomnia and despondency worsen until Louise eventually returns. He greets her at the station with hastily bought flowers, and they begin anew. Back in his room, Arthur finally falls asleep. Smiling.
